Prof. Dr. Thomas B. Hildebrandt, DVM.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Bernd Hildebrandt is the Head of the Department of Reproductive Management at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, Berlin, Germany. He is also a professor of wildlife reproduction at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin. He is active in wildlife conservation efforts, especially developing advanced assisted reproduction technologies. He is also a member of several professional associations, such as an Honorary Professor of Life Sciences at the University of Melbourne, a Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution (National Zoological Park), a Conservation Fellow of the Zoological Society London and a Veterinary Advisor for the European Elephant Taxon Group. One of his and his team’s significant achievements was successfully carrying out the first Embryo Transfer on the African White Rhino, which is a hope for Indonesia to adopt similar efforts for the preservation of rhino species owned by Indonesia, namely the Sumatran rhino and the Javan rhino as well as other wildlife.
